Character Interview: Talis, Teryn, & Cian

So, while I love my Dragon Hunter series, there are two other series in the works. It's time to introduce you all to those characters. Let's start with the series I'm calling the Coven. The first of the main characters, and the one to make himself clear to me, is Talis. To give you some background on this series, the Coven consists of three people, Talis, his sister Teryn, and her husband Cian. It's set on an island, Genum Island, off the coast of South Carolina. These three witches face off against warlocks and demons while also dealing with their own unique situations. The entire series will feature these three as the main characters and they'll have quite a few adventures, leading up to one big earth shattering fight that's much farther down the line. So, let's start of with giving you an idea of what they look like, and then we'll get to the fun part, getting to know them.

So as I'm sitting in my living room a few months ago, I got treated to two hot guys and a hot chick.
"Hey, is it my birthday?" I wondered aloud.
"Nope, but you already knew that." The male who spoke had light brown skin, long brown hair, and brown eyes that turned grey a few seconds later. He was on the thinner side and about 5’9” tall. Actually, he was built a lot like me. I'd rather have been pulling his hair.
"You're the guy that gets to tell our story to the world, Drako, isn't it?" It was the woman who spoke this time. She was light skinned with brown eyes and long brownish red hair. Her figure was something to behold, I must say. She was one of those chicks with the hourglass figure that makes ordinary women scowl at her.
"Well if he isn't, we'll have to cast one hell of a spell to make him forget us." The other male, a the tallest of the three at about 5'11" spoke this time. He was a different kind of hot. He was more of a nerdy hot, which means nothing except he's hot and wears glasses. Unlike the other two, he was a white guy. Again, means nothing, except he's a hot white guy instead of a hot black guy and I have no preferences when it comes to race. Hot is hot. He had short dark hair and piercing blue eyes that were almost unsettling. He was a little heavier than the first guy, the black guy.
"Oh yay, more people to take up residence in my head. Should I be taking notes?" I asked.
The black guy smiled. "Just remember our names and I think you'll be good. I'm Talis."
"I'm Teryn, and I'm his younger sister." The woman flashed me a dazzling smile.
"I'm her husband, Cian." The white guy's smile was a different kind of dazzling, more of the "I'm hot and will kick your ass if you hit on my chick but feel free to gawk" kind of smile.
"Alright, so, you're witches, right?" Better to move on that get an ass kicking from a guy who will be in residence in your head for the foreseeable future.
"Yep, we're a Coven and Talis is the leader," Teryn told me.
Talis scowled at her. "There's no leader in this coven."
Teryn rolled her eyes. "Yeah, keep telling yourself that. Meanwhile as soon as a demon shows up, who starts giving orders?"
"You should get used to this. They argue constantly," Cian warned me.
"Oh joy." Did you catch the sarcasm in that? If you didn't, now you did.
"I don't give orders. I make suggestions and you follow them."
"That's an order, bitch," Teryn shot back.
Well damn, I knew I liked her. I couldn't help laughing at that one.
"No one says you have to follow them. You could always do what you want and get your ass handed to you." Talis smirked at her.
"Go fuck yourself, big brother."
Cian chose to sit next to me on the one blue couch I have in my living room. "I deal with this on a daily basis."
"How do you cope with it?" I asked.
"Mostly by laughing and staying out of the way. They like to throw things and I know better than to get in the middle. Talis tossed me across a room once by accident." He cleared his throat to get the attention of the arguing brother and sister. "You two are giving a horrible first impression. We're supposed to be introducing ourselves to him and his readers."
"Shut the hell up!" The siblings told him in unison.
"See what I mean?" he said to me.
"Ok, so, obvious question here, where's your, uh, significant other, Talis?" I asked.
"He means boyfriend," Teryn told him.
Talis flipped her off before returning his attention to me. "To answer your question, I have one, and he's working. Besides, we felt like you should get to know the Coven first before dealing with my love life."
"Yeah, because frankly his love life just gets more and more complicated," Teryn muttered.
"It's not complicated. I have one boyfriend and he just came in on less than favorable circumstances," Talis replied.
"Yeah, a warlock chasing you due to a sick obsession and severe insecurity," Cian told me.
"So, in other words, you two are going to give me hell with your story?" I asked Talis.
"Depends on your definition of hell," he replied. "There's plenty of sex. I hope you're getting laid on the regular."
"No problems there. I meant with the emotional stuff."
"Oh, that." Talis shrugged. "We're all human."
"Alright, so lets get to the basics. You're witches and you're in a coven."
"We're actually referred to as the Coven," Teryn corrected.
"What's the difference?" I asked.
"We're something of a chosen group among witches. We inherited a house on Genum Island that sits on top of an ancient source of power that's sought after by witches, demons, and everyone else," Cian explained.
"It's our job to protect that source of power from any that would attempt and fail to use it, and we spend a lot of time demon hunting," Talis added.
"What's the difference, for my readers that don't know, between a witch and a warlock?"
"A witch follows the Craft. They aim to be a positive force in the world. They use their power to help others and bring about beneficial change. They protect others from those that would do harm. Warlocks are selfish. They squander the gift of magic we're given by the Lord and Lady for personal gain," Teryn explained.
"Warlock is a term that translates to liar or deceiver, and warlocks are really good at that," Cian added. "They're human, like us, but they have a darkness inside them. They're greedy, and the form of their greed varies."
"They also tend to be extremely insecure and can become prey for demons." Talis scowled. "They're much harder to do away with because they're human and we avoid killing humans at all costs."
"Although sometimes shit happens," Teryn mumbled.
"That it does," Talis agreed.
"So, were you born on the island?"
Cian shook his head. "We're from right here in St. Louis, with you. We moved to the island when we were chosen to be part of the Coven."
"We all grew up here together, actually. Somehow these two fell for each other and got hitched, then we were chosen to inherit the manor on Genum Island."
"Who chose you, exactly?" I asked.
"The God and Goddess," Teryn replied.
"Actually, Cian was supposed to inherit it anyway," Talis told me. "His mother and her sisters had it last. They were the last Coven. Unforunately, his mother and father were killed when he was young and he had no siblings. So instead of getting passed down to biological siblings as was tradition, Teryn and I were chosen."
"Talis is like my older brother anyway," Cian told me. "But I never could think of Teryn like a sister."
"Well if you did, that'd be rather sick," Talis told him. "I mean, you're married to her now. Who marries someone they think of as a sister?"
One of my couch pillows went flying and hit Talis in the head.
"So you do have a temper?" I asked Cian, very aware of who'd thrown it.
Cian shrugged. "Talis often deserves what he gets."
"So, let's give everyone a clue. How are you guys starting things off in your story?"
"With Talis reconnecting with the love of his life," Teryn answered with a grin.
Talis smacked her with the pillow Cian had hit him with. "We should have started with you two getting together."
"That wasn't nearly as adventurous as your story. And I had such fun watching you fall head over heels."
"You know what I'm going to have fun with? Watching you with morning sickness when you and Cian finally decide it's time to spawn a brat into the world. And since you keep calling me the leader, I call dibs on naming your first born child." Talis stuck his tongue out at his sister. It was childish but kind of cute. Hmmm....
"And on that note, it's about time to head out." Cian stood up. "Come on children. Your pillow fights always get serious and it's bad enough when you mess up rooms in the manor.

Well, that was certainly an interesting introduction for me to the characters. Now you see how characters pop up in my head. And yes, these are the conversations I have to have with them. This is just the first of many, I'm sure. After all, we haven't even met the boyfriend yet.
I'm thinking the first book, where you will get to the meet the boyfriend, will be about in November of this year.
