Character Interview: Brandon and Phil

1/26/2015

Ok, so I couldn't resist the urge. Too many people kinda loved them and they put me through hell writing the last book. Plus, they have their part in this book. That includes one of those wonderful little scenes that people love them in.

Drako: It's been a while since I've talked to you two. I'm still slightly irritated with you.

Brandon: It's been over a year since our book came out and you're still mad?

Drako: Hey, you lived it, and I lived it along with you. You two took three books to get it together. Not cool.

Phil: *laughs* Well, we're together now, and there's no splitting us up.

Drako: Alright, let's get right to the first elephant in the room. Adonis. His name comes up in this book. How are you with that situation?

Brandon: Nothing has changed since the last book. We both understand the situation. We'll always love Adonis, but we're mated. It doesn't get much simpler for us.

Phil: We don't speak to him, in case that's what you're wondering. It's just best for all three of us that way.

Drako: So, you have no idea what the angels want with him exactly?

Brandon: Not a clue, really. And whatever it is, they have to take that up with Adonis and Gramps.

Drako: Now here's something that's interesting to me, your relationship with Vax. In your book, he was eager to come to your aid during Phil's, ah, shall we say, situation?

Brandon: Vax has become a friend. Let's face it, he saved everyone from Lucifer. He did his part to save Phil. Plus, he's close to our age. I may be a god, but I'm new to it. I'm not that old. He's a couple years behind but we can relate. Plus, he had that whole, "I don't want a soul mate" thing going on and I've been there and done that.

Phil: I don't think I was ever at that point. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Brandon: You understand that we all handle things differently and it was really hard not to hate each other at one point. It's a little late to get upset now that you've got me.

Phil: I can hold a grudge.

Brandon: It'll be gone about five minutes after this interview when you're too busy screaming my name.

Drako: *coughs* Um, didn't need that visual guys.

Brandon: Liar, you think we're hot.

Drako: Anyway, moving on. You two play a big part in this book's heroes finally getting together.

Brandon: I didn't want Vax to have to do what I did to realize what he wanted. My biggest mistake was not giving in earlier to the idea of being with Phil. I didn't want Vax to have to lose his mate to come to the point where he could accept the fact that he was his mate.

Drako: So what did you do?

Brandon: Called in help from Aphrodite. The rest everyone can figure out for themselves.

Phil: I was really just the voice of reason in the background. But I was glad to see him get it right.

Drako: So, what's next for you two? You're arguably the fans' favorite couple.

Phil: When we leave here, he's going to try to be a god of his word.

Brandon: *smirks* Gods are incapable of lying, even if we were mortal first.

Phil: Then I'm sure I've got some work to do, and we have an eternity to spend together.

Drako: No big plans in the near future.

Brandon: We have our role to play in the next book. Honestly, you never know when we'll show up in any of the books. We're always around, since everyone loves us so much. We have some stories to tell in that collection you're planning. After all, we stay busy, and don't you want to know what it's been like for Phil being a full time hunter?

Drako: Sounds good to me.

Character Interview: Anaya & Galen

So, by now you might know it's not just Vlad getting settled in Blood Monarch, but Anaya and Galen. Now, it's never been a secret that these two are soul mates, but several years in and these two still hadn't actually gotten together. I figured it was time to sit down and talk with these two.

Drako: Can I just say, it's about damn time.

Anaya: *laughs* It's not my fault it took so long.

Galen looks quite uncomfortable at the moment, but he's not talking. Guess we know who's fault it is, right?

Drako: So seriously, what the hell was the hold up? We've seen Galen meddle with Brandon and Phil's stuff to get them together, but his own soul mate has been right in front of him. What the hell?

Galen: It's a lot easier to help fix someone else's problems than your own. I'm in Brandon's service. I was always meant to be. I was never told it was possible for an angel to have a soul mate

Anaya: Five years in, that's a cop out to me.

Galen: I came around, didn't I?

Drako: Well, angels have souls. Makes sense they could have a soul mate.

Anaya: Don't apply logic to the angels. I've learned it doesn't really apply.

Galen: I resent that. We are logical beings. But we were created to act at guardians and guides. We serve the gods and mortals alike.

Drako: Speaking of which, why did you choose Brandon? Not to sound stereotypical, but don't angels fight against darkness?

Galen: I understand that darkness does not mean evil, it is simply the opposite of light. Without one, the other does not exist. Brandon needed loyal servants. I like to think I've been that.

Drako: Seriously, you have been. But don't you get a bit irritated that Brandon has a kid with your soul mate? Isn't that awkward? Because it sure sounds like it is.

Galen: *chuckles* That's not really an issue to me. We all have a past. It's not as if Anaya knew I was her soul mate, nor did I know she was mine. It's normal to go through life and end up with others outside of your soul mate. Most mortals never actually find their one true soul mate.

Drako: Sounds rather diplomatic. Was really hoping for some kind of animosity there.

Galen: Jealousy is not an emotion I am familiar with. It is unnecessary by and large.

Drako: Alright, fine, spoil my fun. But on a different note, you two being together, how does that work with Theo? I mean, you're an angel, Galen, and he's one of the Moirae. Doesn't that kind of make him a god?

Galen: Yes, it does, but he does not have his full god powers yet. Brandon limited them as it grows depressing living among mortals when you know the exact time and nature of their death.

Anaya: Since he is one of three to guide fate, Brandon and I think it would be best for him to truly get to know what the mortals he'll dictate the lives of actually go through. The original Moirae were a bit out of touch, possibly because they weren't supposed to have survived so long.

Drako: I noticed that in the last book, the depression thing. So, here's an interesting question. What if Theo decides he doesn't want the power or the role?

Anaya: I never really thought about it, but I suppose that would be something he'd take up with Zeus. It wasn't as if I chose this fate for him.

Galen: Agreed. Zeus reigns supreme over all things. If Theo were to elect not to be a Fate, he would have to be stripped of the power by Zeus.

Drako: So, next thing. We learned a lot about Anaya's parentage and history in this book, along with Vlad. We didn't learn much about you, Galen. Think you might let us in on more of your history.

Galen: There's not much to tell that you don't know. I'm a lot older than just about everyone you read about in this story. I've been a warrior. I have spent my life fighting demons and preparing for Brandon and Demun's ascension to godhood, as well as the fall of Lucifer. The bond I share with the likes of Vlad and Andreas is that of a loyal soldier.

Drako: As we saw, Andreas and Vlad have some secrets and some serious regrets. I'm sure you know what they are and can't share, but do you have any like them?

Galen: Not the same type of regrets, though I think when a warrior lives as long as long as we have, we make mistakes and we regret certain decisions. I'm far from perfect, and perhaps I was hastier in my younger days to kill demons on sight, but I have nothing the scale of Vlad and Andreas. I don't have the power Andreas possesses. Plus, I was never under Jarel's command. You haven't been shown the depth of Andreas' power.

Drako: No offense, but he's already pretty damn strong.

Galen: I think your next story will be eye opening as to how strong he really is and always has been.

Drako: Any more parting information? What's next for you two?

Anaya: We'll be around in the future. After all, there's a lot more for you to tell.

Galen: We may not have starring roles, but we'll always be around. It's not like we're mortal.

Character Interview: Jarel

So, it's release day for the sixth book in the series. How can we do release day without the god who brought us everyone's story? There's always some questions for the Black Dragon God, and he's starting off our release day festivities with his usual brand of answers.

Drako: So, it's been a while since we've sat down and talked. I've been a bit absorbed in Vlad's story.

Jarel: Yes, I've noticed. You were pretty anxious to get to his story.

Drako: And now that I have, time for some questions. So, this book, we find out you have always been a supporter of Vlad, or Dracula as he's known in our world. In his mortal life, he says you blessed with him with certain gifts. Care to elaborate?

Jarel: I've been known to have human followers. Though I never broadcast my name out to the extent of the Olympian gods, I have a fondness for mortals.

Drako: Clearly, since you've made a lot of children with them.

Jarel: That's obvious. But Vlad's family had a small kingdom and they were decent, hardworking people. He didn't have such strong ambition that he'd branch out. His goal, as well as his father's, was only to protect their lands. When invaders came, they prayed and I answered. I increased his speed and strength. His skills were so fierce that Ares attempted to bargain with me to gain his service.

Drako: I've seen some of those skills in this new book. I can see why. So here's the question that I find interesting. Why do you think Vlad never made another vampire, despite the myths that persist not only in our world, but in yours?

Jarel: Vlad is complicated. His wife and children did not want to become like him. They wanted to remain mortal. If I had to answer honestly, I'd say he was waiting on someone worthy of his blood, his gift. Vlad had an unfair advantage over Vacker and Deidre. They were normal mortals. Loyal, but not warlike in nature. Vlad came into the blood with heightened gifts and years as a trained warrior. Not to mention a loyalty that is virtually unrivaled in my service.

Drako: Virtually, but not totally unrivaled. After all, you gave us a peak into Vlad and Andreas' history. What's the connection?

Jarel: *smiles* Are you asking me to spoil a future story?

Drako: I look at it as giving a bit of insight. Besides, I'll have the next book finished in a couple months anyway.

Jarel: I command things of those that serve me that they may not always agree with. But it's in their best interest, or mine. Sometimes both. Might even be beneficial to the world at large. As two of my most loyal subjects, and most powerful, they were asked to lead the charge against my enemies.

Drako: There seems to be some guilt there.

Jarel: Guilt isn't something I feel often. I understand it, but don't really feel it. I had Andreas and Vlad take the charge and remove my enemies through whatever means necessary. Let's face it, you don't cross a god like me, even if you are a god.

Drako: Ok, so let's talk this story. We know it's all about a conflict with the fallen angels. We know angels were created by the goddess Verlaine, and we know you have a history with her. We get a little tease of information in this book about it.

Jarel: Our history is complex. But the short version is, she was a peaceful goddess, powerful, but not warlike in nature. She was too trusting. She also used too much of her own strength to create Apollyon, the very first angel. She made an angel so fierce that the likes of Lucifer were too afraid to approach her while he was around. I gave the angels the flaming swords they covet so much now as a gift to her. Sadly, it was not enough to protect her from the treachery that inevitably took her.

Drako: Ok, so Adonis keeps coming up. Every book, his name pops in. Even now that he's in the Elysian Fields. Is there perhaps another story for Adonis?

Jarel: Adonis is very special, not only for who he was in a past life, but for who he was in this life. He's Brandon and Phil's first love, and the bridge that brought them together. He's desired in more ways than one. He will keep coming up in other stories.

Drako: You're being cryptic again. We hate that.

Jarel: *laughs* But that is the nature of the gods. You know that. Now, if you want to get interesting, lets talk about your love life.

Drako: How about we don't? We're telling the world your story, not mine. So, when do we get to see the Black Dragon God settle down?

Jarel: Touche, mortal. Some things are best left for another day.

Character Interview: Vlad & Vax

(seems this went missing when i posted it before. Not appreciating it either)

So, it's that time. Haven't you been waiting to hear from the stars of the newest book. Vlad the Impaler, Dracula, and a host of other names, paired with Vax King, the Chosen of Hecate and Heir of Mjolnir. I'm pretty sure no one saw this pairing coming, because I sure in the hell didn't. They met in the book, Heir of Mjolnir. There was a bit of sexual tension there, but nothing major. Vlad was Vax's test. So how the hell did these two end up together? Well, you'll have to read the book for the exact answer to that. Right now, we're talking to them about everything else.

Drako: So, Vlad, it's been a while since I talked with you, but I never got the chance to really talk to Vax here.

.Vlad: It has been far too long since our last meeting. You look well.

Drako: And you're still an enormous flirt.

Vax: That's not likely to ever change. Long as he keeps it at flirting.

Vlad: *grins at Vax* Now why would I ever do anything more than that with others?

Vax: You wouldn't, if you know what's good for you.

Drako: So, that's an interesting dynamic. Looks to me like you two are the exact opposite of what we'd all have expected when I wrote Heir of Mjolnir.

Vax: Well, that was an introduction, I guess. Being tested and having to prove myself. I was still a novice.

Vlad: A very lucky novice, I might add.

Vax: You seem upset? Mad that you got your ass kicked?

Vlad: I would hardly say I had my ass kicked. I was starved. I'd been asleep for decades. There's something to be said for a long period of time without blood.

Vax: Excuses, excuses.

Drako: You have definitely come out of your shell. So, you two really are interesting to watch. I never pictured Vlad being in any way submissive.

Vlad: I never saw it in myself, either. It would appear that the gods know best. There is something so interesting about allowing myself to surrender to Vax. I've never even tried it before.

Vax: I'm not used the dominant and submissive roles, really. I'm no saint, and I sure the hell wasn't a virgin when I met him. I'm a college student after all. I just did what I was told and it still seems to work.

Drako: Can't be bad having the king of vampires at your beck and call.

Vax: *laughs* It's never dull, that's for sure.

Drako: So Vlad, we see in this book some of that legendary prowess, and you let us in on a glimpse or two of your past. You and Andreas have some secrets to share.

Vlad: I have many secrets, some of which may remain secret, but yes, Andreas and I have a history. A dark one, and you'll be telling it all too soon.

Drako: Oooo, more to look forward to. Does Vax know all this?

Vlad: After the events of our story, it's safe to say Vax knows the entirety of my past.

Drako: I have an idea of it already. Vax, any thoughts on it?

Vax: Not my place to judge. We all have a past, and we all serve the gods. For those of us that serve directly it means doing a lot of things we don't like and might later feel guilt for. I haven't hit that point with Hecate, but I don't have the power that Vlad and Andreas have, and I'm a lot younger.

Drako: So is it safe to say you and Andreas feel some form of regret about this shared history?

Vlad: I do not regret aiding him, but some of the things we did, and the methods we used, I'd rather not have used. But my regrets are nothing compared to his. As powerful as I am, I'm no match for Andreas.

Drako: We've seen Andreas in action. We've seen you in action. You look about even.

Vlad: *smiles* I'm glad you think so, but trust me, we're not. Andreas far surpasses every other child or servant of Jarel. What you've seen of him so far is a restrained Andreas. When he releases his real power, you'll understand why we all pale in comparison. I've seen him at full strength. He is very much his father's child in that regard.

Drako: Can't wait to finish writing that next story. So, back to you. How do you get along with Lita?

Vlad: We get along well. I am quite close with her father as well.

Vax: It's been a bit rough here and there between them.

Vlad: Well, yes, she did have a talk with me right before I met Vax's parents.

Vax: First I'm hearing of this.

Vlad: It was to be between us. She acted as only a true friend does. She threatened severely bodily harm including but not limited to castration and cauterization if ever I were to break your heart.

Vax:  *smirks* Sounds like her.

Drako: And Merlin? What does he think of your relationship and how do you get along with him?

Vlad: He is a mystery to me as I am to him. We are both thought of as myths and legends even among our own kind. I'm not sure what exactly he thinks of me, but it would seem he doesn't disapprove.

Vax: Merlin is a mystery in a lot of ways, but he's pretty direct if he hates you. Ask him who his parents are and what they are, and you'll get the most cryptic answers ever. Ask him if he hates you, he's really quite blunt.

Drako: So what's next for the happy couple?

Vlad: Eternal happiness, such as it exists in our world.

Vax: But he's the king of the vampire race, and there are more stories of his race to tell, plus Andreas has the next story. We'll be around often enough for you.

blurb:

A king's duty never ends, even when his kingdom changes. Vladimir Dracula is one of the most famous and misunderstood figures in all of history. One thing is true, he is a king, and he is a vampire. He is the true king and enforcer of the vampire race. Feared by all of his own kind, he is perhaps the most lethal of the Black Dragon God's mortal born servants. At the same time, he personifies sex. None can resist his charms, save one.
Vax King is the Chosen of Hecate, the Heir of Mjolnir, and has no plans on a mate. When he's called on to enter Fae lands, he's surprised to find the legendary vampire there. Looking to aid the beautiful Fae, Anaya, and her soul mate, Galen, Vax must enter a world of sex of violence with only Vlad to accompany him. Here, there can be no denial, no hesitation. Only truth....and dominance.
A war is brewing in the Fae lands, as the fallen angels rise to lay claim to the power of their goddess, Verlaine and topple their higher brethren. Older than most, Vlad must accustom himself to having a soul mate, and use all his legendary power to stop the forces of darkness long believed to be controlled by him. A new kingdom is the prize, and none knows better than the famed Dracula that the secret to power lies in the blood.

Excerpt:

It took quite a while, but Anaya managed to lead them to a town that had not been destroyed. Galen suggested they rest for the night, a welcomed suggestion by all. The Fae world was old fashioned in some ways but modern in others. Magic powered the land, giving them amenities such as running water and lights. However their monetary system was still based on gold and silver, leaving it to Anaya and Galen to negotiate and pay for rooms at the inn. They took only two rooms, one for the ladies and one for the men.

“I think we should have made Vlad sleep outside,” Vax muttered to Galen.

“Don’t worry, I don’t plan on doing much sleeping anyway,” Vlad told him.

“I’m going to pretend I don’t know what that means.”

Galen sighed. “So long as he’s not doing it in our room, I don’t much care what or who he does.”

Vlad smirked. “You’re too much of a tight ass, and I don’t mean that in a good way. Besides, why would I use our room unless my friend Vax here has decided to be a little more adventurous?”

Vax scowled. “Gods I hate you.”

“Only because you want me, which is perfectly natural.”

Vax didn’t really have much of a comeback so he flipped him off, prompting the vampire to laugh.

“Anytime you’re ready, I’d be happy to.”

Vax walked away. Galen shook his head at Vlad.

“I’m having trouble deciphering if you’re legitimately interested in the boy or messing around with him because that’s just who you are.”

Vlad shrugged. “I pursue anyone I’m attracted to. He’s an attractive enough male for me to pursue, and it makes it so much more interesting that he won’t give in.”

“So he’s a game to you?” Galen asked.

“Everyone is a game to me,” Vlad answered. “That doesn’t mean I’d hurt him. I don’t make it my business to break hearts if I can avoid it.”

“I’ll never understand you creatures that feed on blood. You all seem to have that in common.”

“It’s not our dietary habits that bind us. You angels simply place yourself above everyone else. The rest of us realize that certain urges are natural and we go with it. I’ve been alive for over ten thousand years. I don’t have the urge to settle down yet. If it ever happens, I’ll deal with it.”

Galen’s eyes grew significantly brighter as he looked at Vlad. “You should probably start adjusting to the idea of settling down, vampire. You will be soon.”

Vlad cocked his head to the side. “I sense energy flowing around you far more strongly. You see my mate?”

Galen’s eyes dimmed. “Yes, I do. Your mate is in this realm. It’s up to you to figure out who it is and how to make it happen.”

Vlad grunted. “Yeah, I’ll get right on it. Meanwhile, maybe you should get to work on your own mate. Poor girl is clearly ready to go to a certain level with you that you won’t go to.”

Galen’s face reddened. “I’m simply being cautious.”

“No, you’re being a little bitch,” Vlad shot back. “You know she is your soul mate. It’s not in dispute. The gods told you she is yours. All you have to do is claim her.”

“I don’t deny she’s my mate. I just…” Galen stopped, lost for words.

“Yep, you’re just being a bitch. That’s what you wanted to say.” Vlad smirked. “Face it, you’ve got to make the move now. Even soul mates don’t wait forever. The gods never said soul mates have to end up together or that they can’t love someone else. Look at your patron.”

Vlad walked off, leaving Galen to his thoughts.
